Officially the Seawall, nearly, circumnavigates Stanley Park. From English Bay and Coal Harbour it goes North around Prospect Point.

The Seawall, when it was originally built started on the edge of Stanley park, approximately in line with Chilco street.
Though many believe that Stanley Park extends to Denman Street, that section of park, between Denman and Chilco, is actually the, four hectare, Devonian Harbour Park. Not Devonian Harbour, so don't be looking for a harbour named Devonian, but Devonian, harbour. It gets its name from the fact that it is situated on the harbour, Coal Harbour, and was built by the Devonian Institute of Alberta.
THE WALKWAY TURNS FROM BRICK TO PAVEMENT. ABOVE THE DIVISION, AT THE BASE OF THE RAILING, A PLAQUE PROCLAIMS `MILE `0'. SEAWALL (CENTER) ROYAL VANCOUVER YACHT CLUB (R) Separating Stanley Park from Coal Harbour, the Seawall itself is separated. The one side, slightly higher than the other, is for bicycles and the lower side, that closest to the water, is for; joggers, pedestrians, and strollers. The pedestrian side is `two way' traffic whereas the bicycle side is one way traffic, moving counter clock wise, around the park.
ENTRANCE, AND BRIDGE, TO DEAD MAN'S ISLAND. The story of how the island got its name: mega years ago, a tribe of natives captured the women and children of another tribe. A trade was made. The first tribe traded the women and children of the second tribe for the warriors of the second tribe. The first tribe then took the warriors of the second tribe to the island and killed them.
Today the island is the home of the H.M.C.S (Her Majesty's Canadian Ship) Discovery, a military training base.
STAIRS PROVIDE ACCESS TO THE TIDAL FLATS. SIGN NEAR ENTRANCE GATE. PLAQUE BESIDE ENTRANCE GATE. ENTRANCE GATE. APPROPRIATELY, SEVERAL CANADIAN GEESE BROCKTON PAVILION, AND CRICKET PITCHES. Locals dubbed the point, `Hallelujah Point', because the Salvation Army singers could be heard, clearly across the water, when they would shout `hallelujah'. In honor of the Army’s 60 years of service, in B.C., the point was officially named on Oct. 3, 1948.
HALLELUJAH POINT PLAQUE BENEATH SIGN. HARRY JEROME THIS CONCRETE PAD WAS USED BY THE ROYAL ENGINEERS TO SURVEY THE HARBOUR AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THIS PLAQUE IS ON THE CONCRETE PAD AND CAN'T BE SEEN FROM THE SEAWALL. Each year, the engineering class at UBC, (University of British Columbia) likes to play a practical joke. One year they took the 9 o`clock gun from its emplacement and hid it, demanding a ransom from the city. Upon its return, the city built a cage around it.

All the water you see, plus another seven miles East to Port Moody and North up Indian Arm, must move through the first narrows when the tide is changing. This create much turbulence in the water and very rapid currents.

THE WORLD'S FASTEST MAN.
HE USED TO PRACTICE HIS RUNNING ON THIS SEAWALL.

ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN,
SFU. (SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY)

WHEN THE TIDE CHANGES DIRECTION
IT CREATES SUCH A CURRENT
THAT SAILING VESSELS COULD NOT MOVE AGAINST IT.
EACH NIGHT THE GUN WAS FIRED
AT 9 PM SO THAT SHIPS' CAPTAINS
COULD SET THEIR CHRONOMETERS.
TODAY, THE GUN IS FIRED AUTOMATICALLY,
EACH NIGHT.

NOTE THE MORTAR THAT HAS BEEN WASHED AWAY
BY THE POUNDING OF THE WAVES.
NOTE THE CONTINUATION OF THE GUARD RAIL,
INDICATING THAT THE STAIRS ARE NOT SAFE TO BE USED.
NOTE THE PARALLEL LINES ON THE ENDS OF THE BLOCKS
(DRILL HOLES FROM HAND DRILLS)
AND THE UNEVEN SURFACE OF THE BLOCKS.
THESE BLOCKS, LIKE MOST OF THE SEAWALL,
WERE CARVED BY HAND.

ORIGINALLY THE LIGHTHOUSE WAS MANNED AND THE OPERATOR WOULD THROW A STICK OF DYNAMITE OUT THE WINDOW AT 9 PM.EVENTUALLY THE DYNAMITE WAS REPLACED WITH A CANNON.IN TIME, THE OPERATOR WAS ALSO REPLACED, WITH AUTOMATION.
