We took the airport bus into the city, P55.
Because the bus driver wasn’t sure where our hotel was we were the last ones to be dropped off, which meant that we had a free tour of, almost, the entire city.

The Hotel Regis, though a little seedy is centrally located, if one likes the local experience. If one wants the tourist experience then the other end of Mazatlan would be more to their liking.
The Hotel Regis is located at 1010 Gtz. (Gutierrez) Najera, at the corner of Hepos Del Canonelp Tampico Oriente.
Rates start at 150 Pesos for a single or 250 for a double.
Note the house to the right of the hotel. I don't know if anyone lives there but the front door is always open, in the evening. The parlour is usually occupied by lovely ladies and their is usually a taxi or two sitting out front.
Though it is not near the hotel zone, and the fancy night clubs, there are two table dance clubs within a short distance and the ladies next door will happily share your room with you.
If the sound of high heels, clacking on the tile stairs, throughout the night, is not to your liking there are other hotels in the area with equally low rates.
As well, within easy walking distance are: several banks; ATM machines; eating places; and cantinas.
The area is served by several busses and is not that far a walk to the central shopping core, Cathedral; Angela Peralta Theatre, Post Office, Archaeology Museum, Cliff divers, The Women Mazatleca Monument, The Deer Monument, Pino Suarez Market, The Museum Canobbio House, and the seciond highest lighthouse in the world.
A few blocks due West will take you to the main beach which is the city's main attraction; long, wide, and golden, caressed by sparkling blue waters.

The cab driver tried to get a fare by telling us it was a few blocks walk to the Hipo. Being such a nice night we decided to walk. It wasn't a distance of blocks but buildings.
The Hipocampo Bar is at 1104 Ave. Gtz. (Gutierrez) Najera. Admission is free, even on Saturday night. Pacifico beer is P5 a bottle and Corona is 10.

Through friend of friends we arranged for rooms near the North End of the Hotel Zone. If you like the night life and the shopping The Hotel Bugambillias is a great place to stay. The food in the Restaurant Coco is excellent.
However, if you are in to table dance clubs, the clubs in this part of town are more expensive and the girls are not as good looking (Tall & white as compared to short and brown.), and dances, and drinks, are more expensive.

When I went from Mazatlan to Manzanillo I didn't buy advance tickets, which my friend did, so I was unable to get on the bus with him because the busses were full on Sunday night.
Phil took the bus through Puerto Vallarta. An hour after he left I left, on a bus to Guadalajara.
Arriving in Guadalajara I ran into the depot and asked when the next bus left for Manzanillo.
I was told, 3 minutes. I bought a ticket, ran out and jumped on the bus.
I got to Manzanillo an hour before Phil.
The road through Vallarta is twisty and winding, the road to Guadalajara is freeway
Two other bus stories are my trip from Tuxpan to McAllen, Texas on my Tuxpan page,
and my trip to Barra De Navidad from Manzanillo.
